The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) located at Hunghom, Kowloon, which was the Hong Kong Polytechnic opened in 1972, and can be traced back to the founding of the Government Trade School in 1937. In 1994, it achieved University status and renamed The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. HKPU currently has 8 faculties/schools, conferring more than 5,000 undergraduate degrees and 4,000 postgraduate degrees each academic year.
The Graduation Congregation of HKPU is performed separately according to faculties/departments. Ceremony is usually hold in the Jockey Club Auditorium on the university campus between October and November every year. Each graduate will ascend the stage individually during the ceremony. The gown with different colour facing represent various faculty/school.
